Photoshop Task
I started off this task with picking out a movie to make a cover for, I picked Edward Scissorhands.
Once I chose what film I was going to use, I then opened Photoshop.
I started off by making the background a nice pale but not too pale blue. I chose the blue because this film is about ice and the cold so I thought it was a good idea to use a blue.
Next, I created my titles for the cover. I done this by creating a new layer and I then picked a font that i thought would go well with the whole concept of the movie. I made sure it was a good colour that would look well and then I chose a font size. I done the 'Edward Scissorhands' big because its the name of the movie and it will show people what the movie is. I put "A Tim Burton Film" smaller than Edward Scissorhands because it is not as important as the actual name of the movie but it is important because by knowing it is a Tim Burton movie you know what to expect.
Secondly, I went on Google Images and found a picture of the 2 main characters from the film. I then created a blank document on Photoshop and dragged that picture onto the document. I then traced round the picture to get rid of the background. Once I cropped the picture, I then edited it by clicking on Feather. This tool will make the edges look smoother than usual. I then copied the image onto my DVD cover and placed it in the middle of the cover. I made it the right size by going on edit>transform>scale, when I was scaling the image I made sure that I pressed the shift key so the image didn't go funny.
I then used the paint tool with the colour white and I dotted around the picture and text to make it look like snow. I used different amounts of the paint on each part so they all didn't look the same.
After that, I then got another picture from the movie and I done the same thing that I did with the previous image. I traced around the picture and I then copied it and then put it onto my DVD cover an scaled it to the size I wanted. I added a glow on this picture to make it look better.
I then used the paint brush again and made it look like the snow was coming from his hands.
To finish my piece off, I then wrote a description for the back of the cover and I put the paint brush all around the text to make it look like a snow bubble. I then put a small picture of the main characters on the spine of the cove and I the put the name of the title on the spine and I also added an age restriction picture.
